Monroe County Parks and Recreation has ball fields, a pavilion, and summer camps. Country Club Park has a playground for children and walking trails. If you like to play basketball, the court at Kynette Park is waiting for you. Milledge Circle Park is another spot for families, offering a playground. Hill Street Park has a playground and basketball court. You’ll also want to visit the quaint Lee Street Park.
For the more adventurous, the kids’ splash pad at 343 Country Club Drive helps with the summertime heat. Practice skateboarding and biking at the Skate/Pump Track just across from the splash pad.
Rum Creek Wildlife Management Area is in Monroe County. The 5,884-acre property has hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, small game, dove, waterfowl, and coyote. visit Rum Creek: Berry Creek Area with its 161-acre archery only zone. Rum Creek WMA is a bird watcher’s paradise, where you’re like to spot bald eagles and perhaps catch a glimpse of the rare red-cockaded woodpecker.
Lake Juliette is a 3,600-acre reservoir operated by Georgia Power that is surrounded by the Rum Creek WMA and is adjacent
to the Rum Creek MARSH project, a refuge area for wintering waterfowl. The most common species of ducks found on the lake include ring-necked ducks, lesser scaup, teal, and mallards. Canada geese also can be found feeding on open points scattered around the lake. There is no waterfowl hunting allowed west of Ebenezer Road, except that youth may hunt waterfowl between Ebenezer and Juliette Roads in the designated Youth Area. No motor in excess of 25 hp may be operated on Lake Juliette.
